CHAUVET® is the Cure for Therapy Nightclub

Therapy, an after-hours club in downtown Miami, keeps partygoers dancing until the wee hours of the morning with talented DJs spinning the latest in electronic music and a hypnotic light show created exclusively of Chauvet fixtures.

At 4,600 square feet, Therapy is an intimate club with a lighting rig comprised of nearly 50 Chauvet fixtures. Ian Elbrand, lighting designer for Audio Systems Consulting, wanted to create a multi-layer light show using all Chauvet lighting.

“The light show is designed to run in multiple layers,” Elbrand said. “For ease of color uniformity and programming, we selected all Chauvet lighting.”

Thirty-nine fixtures affixed to a pipe grid suspended above the perimeter of the dance floor create a lighting display with a huge amount of warmth and color. To achieve this look, Elbrand and his team mounted eight CHAUVET® DJ SlimPAR™ Tri 7 IRC and six CHAUVET Professional COLORdash™ Par-Quad 7 wash lights. For an extreme amount of movement, he incorporated sixCHAUVET® DJ Intimidator™ Spot LED 350 and four CHAUVET® Professional Q-Wash™ 260-LEDmoving heads, as well as four CHAUVET® DJ Impulse™ 648 strobe lights.

The free standing DJ booth, which is surrounded by the dance floor, acts as an eye-catching focal point and features twoCHAUVET® DJ Intimidator™ Scan LED 300scanners mounted to the front. For added effects at close range, two COLORdash™ Par-Quad 7, an Impulse™ 648 and three Intimidator™ Scan LED 300 scanners project color and movement into the crowd from above the booth. Additionally, 12 CHAUVET® DJ COLORstrip™ Mini wash lights mounted inside structural boxes behind the VIP areas create an illuminated architectural feature. To enhance the light show, an Amhaze™machine fills the room with haze to accentuate beams.

“The Chauvet fixtures were absolutely a breeze to install and are simple to operate,” said Carlos Alvarez, light operator at Therapy. “These fixtures perform amazingly — with the combination we have, we are able to create some really stunning visuals.”
